Expanse of the Heavens by Colt Seager. Oil and pencil on unprimed canvas.
The Irish have an old teaching that there are places on earth where the atmosphere collapses and heaven falls to earth. They call them “thin places,” a place charged with sacredness, a place close to God. Whether a mountaintop or seaside cliff, a sunrise or sunset, a piece of music or fine art, thin places are wherever you have a sense of the divine, a sense beyond. Furthermore, a thin place is where the veil that separates heaven and earth is lifted. Expanse of Heavens takes it's name from Genesis - “And God said, Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be signs and tokens [of God’s provident care], and [to mark] seasons, days, and years…”
Dimensions: 52 x 60" high.
